Travelling to Surat
Surface
Surat’s road traffic mainly functions via the NH8 which directs travelers right into the city. The NH8 is recognized as one of the most industrially developed area of the country, with Surat noted as one of the most industrially active cities that it connects to.
NH6 is also frequented by tourists, starting from the city of Hazira and connecting to Dhule, Nagpur, Raipur, Sambalpur, Kharagpur and Kolkata. Currently in affect is the new addition of the Golden Quadrilateral highway system – its soon expected completion will allow connection directly through Surat.
Train
The Surat Railway station is conveniently located in the major metro area of the city, close to all amenities, hotels and businesses. Approximate travel time to reach Mumbai or Ahmedabad is 4 hours, with Vadodara is only 2 hours away for meetings and day trips.
The national railway system–Western Railways–connects conveniently to Surat, allowing it to arrive and depart to the south (Mumbai) and the north (New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and others). A connection is also available to Centrail Railways through the rail lines of Udhana Junction and Tapti.
Air
Surat Airport, opened in May of 2007, provides one daily flight to and from Delhi via Indian Airlines. Extending its services, Kingfisher is also officially providing daily operations to and from Jaipur and Kandla.
